After Christian the Lion Reunion...

After the reunion with his previous roommates that saved him from the small cage he was in as a cub, and sent him to Africa to live his life...the story continues...

For those that recall the 1966 movie called "Born Free", the husband wife team that be friended Elsa the lion, was that of Kenyan Game Warden, George Adamson and his wife, writer, Joy Adamson. Joy's 1960 book on the topic became an international best seller which became the Oscar winning film that followed. George served as technical adviser to the film. The screenplay was written by then blacklisted Hollywood writer Lester Cole using the pseudonym "Gerald L.C. Copley". John Barry created the award winning soundtrack. The making of the film was a life-changing experience for actors Virginia McKenna and her husband Bill Travers who became animal rights activists and who were instrumental in creating the Born Free Foundation.

The foundation has two big cat sanctuaries in South Africa at the Shamwari Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape. Several lion and leopard have been rescued from appalling conditions all over the world and returned to their rightful home - Africa. The two sanctuaries also serve as education centers for school children from all over. Up to 500 scholars visit the centers each month.
